Subject Choices
Year 12Students follow a curriculum determined by their choices in Year 11 of the previous year. New students enrolling in Year 12 must ensure that their subject selection satisfies all the criteria for the award of a UAI or other credential.

You must choose a total of at least twelve (12) units.
You cant study 2 courses on the one line you have to make a decision.

STUDY REQUIREMENTS - Years 7 - 10
English, Maths, Science 500 hours each throughout Years 7 - 10 Human Society and its Environment 400 hours throughout Years 7 - 10 with 100 hours each of Australian History and Geography in Stage 5 (years 9/10) Visual Arts, Music and Languages A minimum of 100 continuous hours each, usually in years 7 & 8. Not to be split over a number of years. Armidale High teaches a compulsory 200 hours of Languages in Year 7 & 8. All students study one language for 100 hours in Year 8. This is a compulsory component of the School Certificate. PDH & PE At least 300 hours throughout Years 7 - 10 Design & Technology 200 hours throughout Years 7 - 10 but preferably in Years 7 & 8, including 50 hours learning about and using Computers. The new Design and Technology Syllabus, issued in 2004 for implementation in 2005 takes out the 50 hours of computing. Students from 2006 will be tested on computing skills at the School Certificate. Also computer technology is incorporated into all the new 7 - 10 Syllabi starting with English and Maths implemented from 2004 Electives In stage 5, the study of 2 electives for 200 hours each or 1 elective for 200 hours and 2 electives for 100 hours each. YEAR 8
Students follow a set curriculum with a choice of TWO electives from the Extension list, which caters for classes composed of students from both Years 8 and 7. (See Semester lists below).
Students must elect ONE language to be studied for the whole year. The COMPULSORY 100 hours of a second language study is followed at AHS in Year 8. Students MUST satisfy the requirements of this language to be eligible for a School Certificate at the end of Year 10.
YEAR 7
Students follow a set curriculum with a choice of TWO Extension Courses which are each 1 Semester long.
