Val Schaeffer (class of ...)is working as the Tourist Co-ordinator for Manning Shire Council in Taree. She was spotted giving a tour commentary on the bus from Wingham to Taree during the 2007 RTA Big Ride.
Robbie Curtis (class of ...) successfully auditioned for the prestigious New Zealand School of Dance (one of the top 25 dance schools in the world).
Fran Curtis - former drama teacher at AHS and mum of Ellen, Huon and Robbie says that they all continue to regard very highly the education and values they received at AHS.

Jessica Davidson spent some time from January to June 2004 studying in Queensland. She then moved to Southern Cross Uni in Lismore and completes her studies at the end of October 2007. Jessica has secured a job as Sport and Recreation officer for all SCU campuses (Tweed, Lismore, Coffs and Sydney). He is currently studying an Associate degree in policing practice by distance and working for the Dept of Disabilities and should be a working police officer by May 2008. Adrian Walsh is doing a Science/Architecture Degree at Newcastle University.
Sarah Hitchcock completed 1st Yr Science at UNE. She entered the Defence Forces Academy in Canberra as an Aviation Officer - Observer in the Navy in January 2004 and was accelerated into 2nd Year after completing boot camp. The 'Jump Up' course required her to do 3 years military training over 2 years which didn't give her much leave. She completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics and graduated in December 2005. She participated in exercises with the NZ Navy during February 2005 on HMAS Melbourne. She won two gold medals for Soccer in 2004 and achieved the Most Improved Player Trophy for the ACT League. She was posted to RAAF East Sale where she started navigator training but decided to change direction. She is currently in Perth at HMAS Stirling.
Callan Robinson is studying at Hiroshima University on a JASSO Scholarship. He returns to UNE in October this year (2005) to continue his studies. He enjoyed his time at AHS and says to tell all the Japanese students that anything is possible.

Tanya Kaziboni (class of 2002) is currently pursuing a Bcom degree in stats at the University of Pretoria. She remembers that she was in class 7NO at AHS. She also remembers some of her fellow students like Jay Jay Stolker, Michael Dunstan, Jason Brazel, Stuart Milowski, Aaron Copeland, Nikki Evans, Diana Barnes, Mr Shannon, Miss Cabitza, Mr Zabel, Carly Cochrane, sport after lunch on a Wednesday, a couple of bomb scares and numerous excursions. Huon Curtis (class of 2001) completed Honours in Political Economy at Sydney University and achieved First Class Honours. He is currently working as a researcher at Sydney University.

Patrick Baker studied and completed a degree in BA:Media and Communications at the University of Sydney, with an internship at Greenpeace. Afterwards he worked in the marketing department of a Pub and Bar design firm in North Sydney. He also developed a small internet business. In 2006 he started a medical degree at the ANU in Canberra.

Leanne Cloughessy studied at Southern Cross University LismorM
Alias Cody is now serving in the RAN as an Able Seaman. He is a trained Marine Technician serving on HMAS Canberra. He has been deployed to Korea, Malaysia, Japan and China.

Amanda Hooke was married in September 2007 (now Amanda Cronin). She completed a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) at UNE and was appointed a permanent position for 2005 in Tamworth. She's been working there ever since.

Justin Kalinowski graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and was working as a graduate designer in Canberra from 2004 until June 2006. he is currently based in Dubai working for Verdaus landscape Architects as a Project Landscape Architect.

Simon Maher (class of 1998) is currently studying to be a Primary school teacher after spending 4 years with the Commonwealth Bank. He has two beautiful daughters, Laylah-Rose 3.5 ys old and Indiana 0.5 yrs and is getting married in October to his partner of 7 years. He still lives in Armidale, enjoys general conversation and talking gibberish.
Elyar Sadrmousavi is a Software Engineer working as an IT manager in Iran - Aras free Zone. He would love to migrate to Australia. He was in Yr 7 in 1994 with Paymann Farahbakhsh, Donna Amini, Sally Richards, Trent Bastock and David Farmer. He would love to get in contact with them especially Paymann. Toen Castle is studying for her PhD in Theoretic Physics at the ANU. he says he still can't walk in a straight line, but with advances in medical technology, he hopes to be able to soon. His email is tcal10@rsphy1.anu.edu.au
Sam Drake is currently working at Taronga and Western plains Zoos as an Asset Operations manager. he was involved heavily in the transport and construction of the new Elephant Exhibit at Taronga and the endangered Greater One-Horned Rhino breeding program at Western Plains Zoo. Wendy Griffiths is still in Armidale and loving it! Lots and lots of music including her band 'The Jug Addicts' - a wierd, wacky and wonderful band that plays music from the early 1900s. She is also teaching music at the Armidale Waldorf School, has a private music studio of 42 students and works for the New England Conservatorium of Music. For something completely different, Wendy is also dabbling in waitressing and the selling of lingerie. After returning from a trip to the UK in january (to visit Amelia) Wendy hopes to travel a lot more in the future.
Sarah Lawrence has completed a PhD in Latin with the University of Sydney. She spent 6 months at Yale (US) and some time in Munich (Germany) doing some research. She is currently working at the University of Sydney.
Nicole McLeod (married to Tim Parsons (class of 95) completed a teaching degree at UNE and is now teaching at Coonamble Public School.

Jenny Watts studied at Williams Business College in Sydney and then moved to Narrabri, NSW. She currently works for the NSW DPI at the Australian Cotton research Institute as Office Supervisor/Management Information Officer. She was married in 2001 to Craig Chapman. She is looking forward to catching up with fellow class members and would love to assist with a 10 year reunion.
Sarah Whitington worked as the Human Resources Administrator at the InterContinental Hotel in Sydney for 2 years then moved to Macquarie Bank and worked there in Recruitment for a year. She is now living in Berlin and working as a secretary with Rolls Royce. She is also working on improving her German. Sarah will be getting married in July to a German man by the name of Michael Isaak - (her name will then change to Sarah Isaak). Michael was born in Russia so Sarah will also be learning Russian. Paul Sinclair (class of 96) currently works at Taronga Zoo as the Aboriginal Liaison Officer in which he does a fabulous job.
HSC Class of 1995
Yasser Hamed (Masoud) attended AHS between 1992 and 1994. He was working as a Visual Effects Engineer at Fox Studios in Sydney, developing techniques of applying Physics, Maths and Engineering to Visual effects for film. He has now accepted a position with Sony Pictures ImageWorks in Los Angeles and entered the big time in January 2006. Yasser went through a lot of University study and work to get his qualifications but his interest was first manifested in an introductory computer graphics subject taught by Ms Reading in which he excelled. He wants to thank her for igniting that spark!
Nicole Johnson is currently working as a Paralegal with Abbott, Pardy & Jenkins.
Tim Parsons (NIPPA) left in the middle of Yr 11 to start work. He now runs a 5500 acre cattle property in Coonamble and is married to Nicole McLeod (class of 97).
Holly Trueman completed her Ph.D from Imperial College in London last year, after obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree with First Class Honours from the ANU in Canberra. At the present time she is working in television with the BBC and Shine Productions, but plans to return to science and Australia in 2006.
HSC Class of 1994
Carlos Serrano from Ecuador spent a wonderful year as an exchange student at AHS in 1993. Looking back on that year, Carlos remembers the way the Armidale community opened their arms giving him friendship, warmth and allowed him to be part of the Aussie Armidale. He hasn't been able to track any of his friends, despite looking through search engines, white pages and universities. I am in search of Craig Richards, Melissa West, Ben Cooper, Holly Trueman and Allison Hobbs.

Lindsay Magann worked for Armidale Dumaresq Council from 1992 - 2004. Moved to Walgett in 2005 and is working currently as a security guard and youth officer. Class of 1987
Stephen Callahan is now a father of one and lives in Canberra. He studied at UNE and for the last 10 years has worked as an IT consultant in federal government. His work has taken him to hotspots such as Taiwan and East Timor. Stephen is wondering is anyone is organising a reunion in 2007.
Sharon Lehman studied Ag Science then Botany at UNE. She worked in the Ag industry doing soil and plant science. She is now a fully fledged National Parks Ranger west of Grafton. Life is fabulous. She can be contacted on sharon.lehman@environment.nsw.gov.au

Sonia Newman (nee O'Hara) went to TAFE then worked for Armidale Council in 1986. She went overseas, returned to Armidale, married, has 2 daughters and now works with National Parks in Walcha.
Lindsay Stell left AHS in Yr 11 to go to Albury where he attended the Scots School. He worked in Albury until 1995 when he moved to Perth. He is married with 2 girls, Abbie and Haleigh.

David Geraghty - remembers Mr Lenehan (Maths) Mrs Field and Ms Powys-Kerr (English) Mr Allen (Chemistry) Mr Keach (Physics) and the two Peter S. Smiths in Social Studies. After leaving AHS he completed a mechanical Engineering degree at UNSW and moved to the US for 12 months training with Timken. He met his wife, Carol, there and stayed. On the job he moved to Chicago, Cleveland, dallas and Columbus, Indiana. He also studied for an MBA at the Kellogg School of Management. David and Carol have two children, Kapri (10) and Kian (8) and they live on a beautiful lake with about 100 of their best friends' families surrounding them. David enjoys coming home from work in the summer and going for a swim, ski or boat ride. In the Autumn they get to see the beautiful deciduous trees (oaks, maples, ash, cherry, Bradford pear) turn to vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow. He likes to come home to Australia for Christmas, partly to escape the cold winter, which he has never gotten used to, despite coming from Armidale. David is currently Plant Manager for a Cummins Plant that builds 30L diesel engines, weighing about 2,800 kg each. He says it's the best job he ever had, with the hours manageable, the pay generous and travel minimised to a few trips to Japan or the UK every now and then.
'AHS was a wonderful school for me and I loved every minute of it. I would love to see other 'Class of 83' graduates post updates on the site so I can catch up from afar. Should there be any reunions planned,I'd love to know about them in case I can swing a Christmas trip home with the family and catch up on old times with classmates. I suspect the further away we are, the more we want to hang onto some old school connections. It would be great to touch base again.'

Class of 1979
Lorraine Cordeaux (nee Whitehouse) studied Industrial Arts at AHS with Mr Coates and Mr Strahan and two other teachers whose names she can't remember. She was the 23rd female in the State to obtain a Diploma in teaching Industrial Arts and has taught in the ACT and NSW for 14 years full time and teaches now as a casual in NSW schools. She is also a freelance photographer member of the MEAA. Lorraine says that she was probably one of the biggest truants the school had at the time and it's funny how she ended up being a teacher!!! Robert Willis says that his year have had 10 and 20 year reunions (1988, 1998). Richard Skinner, a former Principal was one of his fellow students and had organised both reunions. he is wondering where Richard has moved to and wether there has been any discussion of a 30 year reunion. Colin Ritchie (class of 1976?) has been named in Financial Review's Smart Investor Magazine as one of the Master Class for Financial Planning 2006. This means he is one of the top 50 accountants in Australia. Colin lived in Markham St and attended AHS. He has lived in Inverell for the past 20 years and is a partner with MTP Wealth Accountants. Class of 1969
Chris Coughran (Lane) was a student at AHS from 1967 to 1969. he worked in Armidale until 1970 and joined the RAN in November that year. Chris stayed in the Navy for over 20 years, he's been married twice and has two children from the first marriage. he has been living in Tasmania for the past 15 years. He works for the government and is looking forward to retirement, when he can realise his dream of touring the big island to the north. Chris has requested photos of that era of school life as he lost most of his memorabilia in moving around with the navy.

Class of 1961
Bruce Hoy was a student at AHS between 1957 and 1961 when he sat the Leaving Certificate. In 1962 he started work with The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Ltd, Armidale Branch. he spent three weeks relieving at the UNE Branch and at Warialda before being transferred to Maclean as Teller/Ledger Keeper in 1964. In 1965 he was transferred to Merrylands as 2nd Teller and later that year promoted to 1st Teller. He resigned from the bank in 1967 and in June, joined the Administration of the Territory of Papua New Guinea as a clerk with the Department of Agriculture, Stock and Fisheries. He was transferred to the National Museum and Art Gallery in September 1978 to establish the Aviation, Maritime and War Branch, later renamed the Department of Modern History. He returned to Australia in July, 1988.
Bruce was employed as a consultant with the United States Army with their World War II Missing in Action Program between 1988 and 1993. Recently he has begun tracking down others who were in his year at school.. He says it is unfortunate that the Ex-Students Association no longer exists aas it was very active until the late 1960s.

Bruce Whan worked for 40 years at UNE. Did an Associate Diploma at Charles Sturt University graduating in 1988. Is currently a Councillor with Armidale Dumaresq Council.
Class of 1958
*Roger Mulholland attended school from 1952 to 1956 and left after the Intermediate to join the Bank of New South Wales. After a career in Banking, Travel, Finance and Computers, he has retired at Sanctuary Point, Jervis Bay. He passes the time playing golf and visiting children and grandchildren. Roger has been married for 40 years, has two children, a son who is married and has two children and is living in Griffith. His daughter lives in Brisbane. he travels through Armidale frequently but usually only has time to catch up with relatives. He would love to hear from old friends and classmates. Judy Mitchell (nee Schuman) left school in 1954 at the end of Yr 9. She worked as a telephonist in Armidale and Deepwater and retired. She had 3 children and now has 6 grandchildren.
