We are situated on the Northern Tablelands of the New England Region in NSW.

Armidale High School is the first State High School in Armidale with a student population of almost 700.

The school has been fulfilling the educational needs of Armidale students for over eighty years.

Armidale High School offers the broadest curriculum in the region, which is responsive to the needs of its students and community.

Talented and gifted students are catered for with extension and graded classes.

Enormous opportunities are provided in traditional academic areas, in VET and in practical subjects.

The school has impressive programs in the performing and creative arts. Music and Drama are very strong and the school has excelled in Debating and Public Speaking as well as in many sports.

It specialises in the delivery of languages other than English with four languages, French, German, Italian and Japanese, available to all students

Armidale High School students consistently achieve outstanding results in external examinations and competitions. The school had the top HSC result in the region for 2006.

Ex-students of the school have built impressive careers in the professions, in politics, on the stage, in the media, in music, in sport and education at all levels. Many ex-students work overseas.

Armidale High School has a student-centred philosophy which guides all operations of the school.

The school values its traditions built up over more than 80 years and the professionalism of its staff.

The school encourages the participation of parents (P&C, School Council) in the management and educational programs of the school.

Armidale High students come from a variety of backgrounds.

Outstanding programs are in place in Aboriginal Education, Multi-Cultural Education, Special Education, English as a Second Language and co-curricular activities including Sport and Student Welfare.

There are structures to guarantee student participation in decision making such as the SRC, School, House and Sport Captains so that the student body experiences, and receives training in, practical democracy.
